We are always looking for inspiring volunteers to donate their time and help impact our students' futures. For additional information on any of our volunteer events, please email us or call 212-207-3221 ext 261.

Cool Women, Hot Jobs / Cool Women, STEM Jobs

Each event will take place from 8:45 am to Noon

We need volunteers from diverse personal and professional backgrounds to ignite a spark in TYWLS students in the 6th and 9th grades. This year, we are also specifically looking for women currently working in careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to speak with our 7th and 8th grade students. As a volunteer, you will educate and inspire girls about the many career opportunities and possibilities ahead of them. You will also be asked to speak about your daily activities, responsibilities and challenges, the education and skills needed to succeed in your field, your career path, and interesting aspects about your profession.

Brag Party

Each event will take place from 9:00am to 12:00 pm

We need energetic volunteers to help teenage girls learn the art of bragging and building self-confidence! Peggy Klaus, communication guru and author, will lead all participants in developing important soft skills. This high- energy, experiential workshop provides insights, strategies, tools, and techniques for conquering the little voice inside your head that whispers self-defeating thoughts. By the end of the workshop, students and volunteers will know how to toot their own horn (in the right way, of course!) about the great things they have accomplished.

Each event will take place from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm

We are looking for companies to host 10-12 students (10th grade, age 15) at their offices to introduce them to the world of work. We seek companies that can give our students a "big picture" perspective of different types of jobs in the company and industry, as well as a snapshot of day-to-day responsibilities. We will work with you to create an agenda and program that is mutually beneficial for students and volunteers. We ask you to provide engaging, diverse volunteers and a healthy lunch. This is a great opportunity for students to gain first-hand knowledge in the workplace and meet terrific role models.
